Trainer conducting program

I got an opportunity to conduct training program for Right Value Institute of Nursing located at Trimurti Nagar on 13th September 2011. The program was organized by Jc Vidhi Jha, President JCI Nagpur Pride and Jc Amol Barde. It was the first time i was conducting program for students related to medical profession. I combined Communication Skills, Motivation, Goal Setting and Ethics and designed a program to suit their needs. My audience comprised of lady participants. Half were newly enrolled and rest were old students wearing uniform.

I could see 70 young faces with eyes glued upon me and what i was going to teach them. I cleared their doubt about teaching and told them that it would be an interactive session with two way communication and no lectures. I started the session with Goal setting. I posed them with questions as to why they chose only Nursing as their career options and i got wonderful answers. Some told me because of financial crunch others told me that it was a high paying job with minimum investment after 10th standard. Great. SMART answer from the audience. I asked them now what ? Now they will complete studies and join job so what are their plans. They told it would get tough. I guided them how to keep themselves motivated in tough times. Groom themselves, work on their personality and communication skills. Hard skills will give them entry but it is the soft skills which will help them get the job and rise the career ladder of success.

I tested their listening skills by giving them a small exercise. The exercise was to draw a picture according to my instructions. Everyone tried but few got it right. I told them the importance of proper listening and not living with their preconceived notions. I told them the realities of the Job and made them aware of Emotional Quotient. At the end i summarized my training so that they could understand things better. I left with a positive note and my participants were happy and greeted me thank you.

There are many small things which brings a big difference in life but our problem is we solve all big problems and leave these small stuffs and they pain in the near future. We all spend thousands and Lakhs of rupees on acquiring degrees or hard skills but no or very little amount on soft skills. It is a request to all , please develop your soft skills to get your first job as your attitude is your ticket to success.
