India is a country rich in spices.
Use of spices prevailed from ancient times when Rishi Munis used it as drugs for various health related problems. When any one was injured Vaidyaji used to apply Haldi and mustard oil for fast recovery of injury.
Spices are present in each and every household. The use has changed but the goodness remains the same. We use spices such as Black Pepper, Bay Leaves, Bishop's Weed, Cardamom, Cumin, Coriander Seeds, Cloves, Chilli Powder, Cinnamon, Dried Mango Peel, Dried Amla, Dried Ginger, Pomegranate Seeds Saffron, Tamarind, Turmeric etc. in whole/seed form and also as powders in solitary and blended forms like curry powder, sambhar masala for culinary use.
We drink ginger tea to cure soar throat and Cough. We drink Tulsi khada to treat cough and cold. We use turmeric while cooking vegetables and Dal because of its antibiotic properties. Turmeric is also good when taken with milk , it reduces body pain and cures any minor throat and stomach infection.
Spices add flavours to our Food.
Garlic is a good herbal medicine as it : acts as an antiseptic, fights infection, lowers blood pressure, thins blood and reduces clots, acts as decongestant and expectorant.
Amla cures throat problems when taken with honey.
India is a good exporter of spices too.
