Interview preparation

Types of Job Interview -

Here i have listed below five types of interview.

1) Traditional Face to Face Interview
2) Panel / Committee Interview
3) Behavioral Interview
4) Case Interview
5) Telephone Interview

1) Traditional Face to Face Interview - Most interviews are face to face and the goal as an interviewee is to maintain good eye contact.

Convince the interviewer why you are a suitable candidate and why you should be selected.

Your goal is to establish rapport and show how your qualifications will serve their purpose.

2) Panel / Committee Interview -

- In this situation there are more than one interviewer. It may be from 3 to ten.

- You have to concentrate on the interviewer asking questions and also maintain eye contact with rest of the interviewers as you need to convince all of them

- Remember to take your time in answering questions

- Reply to the point

3) Behavioral Interview -

- In this type of interview the interviewer selects a candidate based on his past behavior and predicts future course of action

- The interviewer wants to know about facts and the results achieved by a particular course of action. They want to know about your working behavior and your orientation towards work. Your attitude towards the situation whether its positive or negative.

- These type of interview starts with “ Give me example about a time when “, or “ Tell me about a situation when “

4) Case Interview -

- This type of interview in conducted to demonstrate your problem solving skills

- You can ask questions and ask for clarifications if confused. Its always better to clarify by asking the interviewer.

- Go for deep thought. Analyze the situation and then come to the conclusion . Think form every perspective.

- Be open for feedback and ready to listen if your answer is wrong. This will give you a positive image.

- There is no ultimate solution the interviewer wants to check your problem solving skills.

- Ask for a pen or paper if necessary or bring your own.

5) Telephone Interview -

- Many interviews are conducted on phone when the candidate is residing far away from the place of interview

- Your only medium of conversation is the telephone. Its better to choose a quiet place with proper light and a good connection so that the link does not breaks in the middle.

- Have a copy of resume with you and be present at the specified time. Its always better to keep all your engagements at bay and concentrate on the interview. This will help you in answering properly.

- Ask your friends not to call you or disturb you on the Telephone number your interview is going to be conducted.

- Show your enthusiasm and positive energy while answering questions. It should be displayed in your voice.

- You will be solely judged for the next level based on your selection in the first level so concentrate and don’t deviate from point. Do not get lost and don’t lose focus of the interview.

- Listen carefully to all questions and then answer, If you are unclear or voice gets disrupted ask them to pardon the question. Its always better to be clear while answering questions.
